The eye is drawn to this Brown-Westhead, Moore dessert comport by a vivid painting of convolvulus (‘Morning Glory’). The border has a bold printed Greek key motif, a favourite of this factory. A black shadow effect has been laboriously added to the edges of the Greek keys to create an illusion of depth. The convolvulus is hand-coloured within a printed outline. The base of the pedestal has a necklace of oval cabochons in a faux gold setting.
The pattern number painted on the base is B2611. The pattern was likely introduced around 1875.
Condition Perfect, apart from a few minor scratches only visible on close inspection.
