This part tea set by Brown-Westhead, Moore has a refined elegance. Gold panels containing enamelled sprays of flowers are set against vibrant turquoise-ground borders imitating the famous bleu céleste of Sèvres. The opulence is tastefully balanced against the pure white of the porcelain. The part set comprises two cups and saucers and a large serving plate with ribbon handles.
The pattern number, C2383, is painted on the bases. It dates from around 1865.
Condition The cups & saucers are perfect. The serving plate has surface scratches and some gilt wear, particularly to the thin gilt band around the central well. The is also a little gilt loss to the outer edges of the ribbon handles. The turquoise ground has one very small stain, measuring a few millimetres.
