Maker: Coalport Porcelain Works
The fitted case contains six dainty Coalport demitasse coffee cups and saucers made a few months before the outbreak of World War I. The cups and saucers have spiral ribbed flutes and along the rim there are gilt-edged miniature mouldings of stylised palmette and acanthus. They are further decorated with printed rose garlands and individual buds.
The design number printed beside the Coalport backstamp indicates a registration date of 1889, but the bases are also impressed with a later potting date code (14F2) for 2nd February 1914.
CONDITION Overall excellent. The cups and saucers are all pristine, possibly never used. The outside of the faux leather case is a little scuffed, and the interior satin lining is somewhat faded with a few loose threads.
