This is a gorgeous early example of Spode’s rich Imari style. The Bute shape is the earliest produced by Josiah Spode II (1755-1827) and the pattern dates from 1806.
Only the pattern number, 967, is painted on the bases.
Condition Very good overall. Green enamel has flaked or rubbed off in several places, most notably on the cup. As there is no other evidence of enamel loss, this is probably caused by chemical degradation in the green enamel over time.
