Period: Late Victorian
Maker: George Jones & Sons
This fashionable George Jones teacup and saucer dates from around 1888. Jones called the distinctive cup shape ‘Garnet.’ It has an elegantly curved profile and a stylish ring handle with thumb rest. The pattern number, 8140, is painted on the base of the saucer.
Condition Very good overall. The cup is perfect apart from a single pin prick-size blemish (too small to be photographed). The top of the saucer is in excellent condition, apart from some micro glaze crazing, visible only on close inspection. The saucer base has what appears to a scorch mark.
