This early Minton coffee can is richly adorned with hand-painted flower panels and gilding, and is in near perfect condition. The reserves are tinted pale green and mauve. Underneath the enamelled flower groups are gilt representations of seashells. The panels are set in a bleu lapis ground gilded with leaves and stylized coral. The inside is further embellished with gilt leaves.
The base bears a painted pseudo Sèvres mark, an ‘M’ for Minton, and the pattern number, 780, which dates from around 1811.
The Sèvres-type mark was used on first period Minton porcelains, from 1805 to 1816, when porcelain production abruptly ceased. Only the first 948 pattern numbers are found with this mark. It does not appear on second period wares, after Minton recommenced making porcelain in about 1824.

Condition Immaculate apart from a couple of tiny (1mm) gilt scratches on the top rim. A blemish on the bottom rim is an impurity from manufacture.
