Period: Late Regency
Maker: Minton
This late Regency teacup and saucer by Minton has finely painted summer flowers inside gilt scroll border cartouches. The dark blue ground emulates the bleu lapis or gros bleu of 18th Century Sèvres. The ‘French shape’ cup has an elegant waisted profile and loop handle.
The pattern number, 1113, is painted with a fine-tipped brush in tiny script on both bases. The pattern dates from around 1827, about three years after Minton recommenced making porcelain after an eight-year hiatus.
Condition Very good. Some minor gilt rubbing and surface glaze abrasions, mainly in the well of the saucer.
