Maker: Chamberlain Worcester
Period: Regency
To describe this perfect condition Chamberlain Worcester coffee cup and saucer as rare is perhaps an understatement. We have not seen another example anywhere of this pattern.
The ‘Baden’ shape cup and saucer are hand-painted in the Kakiemon palette with only a little gilding. Depicted are stylised peach trees with hanging fruit, and on the left side, a fork-tongued dragon descending a flowering bush or tree, intent on devouring a hapless winged creature floundering on the ground. There are also insects in the air.
