The restrained decoration on this Spode Etruscan teacup will appeal to conservative tastes. It consists of gilt fronds on a bleu lapis ground border, within gilt bands. The Etruscan-shape cup has a serpent handle, with coiled tail and mouth biting the rim.
‘Spode’ and the pattern number, 2721, are painted on the base. The pattern was introduced in 1817.
