Period: Regency
Maker: Josiah Spode
The beautiful flower painting on this Spode tea and coffee trio has a vivid freshness that is hard to reconcile with being 200 years old. It is almost the essence of an English summer! The cream-tinted porcelain also imparts an appealing softness to the clean, bright colours.
The ‘London’ shape of the cups was extremely popular and produced with light variations by all the English manufacturers.
The pattern number, 3834, introduced in 1822, is clearly painted on the bases of both cups and saucer.
Condition Excellent. Some minor gilt rubbing, mainly to dentil borders, and light surface glaze abrasions.
