Period: Late Regency
Maker: Zachariah Boyle
This cup and saucer were made not long after Zachariah Boyle started making porcelain in Stoke-on-Trent around 1828. The hand-painted flowers are well executed, particularly on the saucer. The ‘melting snow’ moulded borders are similar to those seen on Samuel Alcock porcelains of this period.
The pattern number, 735, is clearly painted in red on the base of the saucer.
Condition Very good. Some rubbing to gilt trim along rim edges, and to thin gilt foliage on saucer. Minor flaking of green enamel on rose leaves in cup bottom.
